Description
This wonderfully nostalgic image was photographed by Al Coles in 1949. Al was also the owner of this very lovely, and brand new, Ford wagon. I first met Al at ‘The Santa Monica Surf Fair’ at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in late 1963. We became friends, and in 1967 he and I spent a good deal of time going through his extensive photography collection, which dated back to the early 1940s. Al gifted me a superb print of this image, which I have kept and treasured for many decades.
Several years back, I did the necessary digital scanning, and reproduced these beautiful black and white prints. The actual print size is 11-1/2″ x 15″, and the print is properly ‘museum mounted,’ with a double-thickness window mat and set in a hand-made ‘Andiroba’ mahogany frame, 21″ x 24″ overall size. This is an archival pigment print, and with proper care, should last several lifetimes.
A few of these have been printed for special friends and customers. Each takes a concerted amount of careful work and personal time to produce.
